This equipment can be used for two different types of exercises, which strengthen the arms and shoulder area, as well as the muscles of the abdomen and the back. Horizontal handrails are used to strengthen mainly the tensors in the arm – the triceps, shoulders, and back muscles. By using the horizontal forearm supports and grasping the vertical grips we can exercise in a similar way to how we work on the abdominal and back muscles on the horizontal bar. However, these exercises are more comfortable than exercising in a hanging position and so are designed for heavier people or those with weaker arm muscles.
